Please note that Cramer's Music Company and Taboret Art Supplies are permanently closed and the Cramer Center building has been sold.
Mr. Cramer will continue privately to repair instruments, and you may call him at (703) 887-7278 to schedule an appointment.
Typical charges for cleaning, disinfecting, and adjusting Piccolos, Flutes, Oboes, Clarinets, Saxophones, Trumpets, Trombones are under $50 and less than 2 weeks. (Rush orders are also accepted when time permits.)
"Play conditions" are usually less than $100, but may be more depending on the actual 'condition'.
Complete overhauls of instruments are also available, time permitting. Usually such extreme reconditioning is reserved only for those instruments truly in need, instead of your being required to have complete overhauls on instruments that only need a few pads or corks. We are willing to work within your budget and time frame! (Most complete overhauls on Student Flutes and Clarinets are $250. Professional models slightly higher, depending on condition. Alto Saxophone complete overhauls run about $400-$450. All estimates include parts and labor.)
Please Note: Every effort is made to repair instruments according to 'need' in both time and budget. However, we reserve the right to refuse accepting instruments when we feel that a satisfactory result is not possible.
Mr. Cramer specializes in Band Instrument repairs, especially Woodwinds such as Flutes, Clarinets, and Saxophones, but can also perform typical adjustments to Piccolos, Oboes, English Horns, and Bassoons. 'Brass' Instrument repairs are limited to minor dent removal, soldering, cleaning, and valve/slide work. We are not equipped to re-plate or re-lacquer horns.
String Orchestra Instrument repairs are limited to setting sound posts, replacing/reshaping bridges, gluing loose fingerboards, replacing strings, etc. We do not re-hair bows.
While we are happy to assist anyone in an emergency, it is usually more cost-effective to use another source for guitar repairs.
Please Note: At the present time, Mr. Cramer does not repair or tune Pianos.
All repair work is performed by Mr. Cramer,
himself, a member of NAPBIRT-
the National Association of Professional
Band Instrument Repair Technicians.
